How do I get rid of flies on the back porch?

They are so annoying! My dad doesn't have animals or anything, and there is not trash or food out here but they just like to hang out in the shaded area.

What type of flies are they? The regular black 10-millimeter ones?

If it's a reoccurring problem I would suggest putting up birdhouses made for birds whose main course is flies. In Sweden black-and-white flycatcher or swallows would be good choices.

I don't know! Laughing out loud I mean they look like regular flies. They are not big like horse flies.

And they return every year? Then I would go with birdhouses.

I think they return every year! I'll have to talk to my dad about it and read up on which birds in this area feed on flies.

My boyfriend lives next to a big woodland and his place is always full of flies, I have just bought some citronella incense sticks because apparently, the scent repels them away.  They are really cheap and create a cool vibe on summer nights in the garden, however, I know you get migraines so it may not be the best option for you!

#6 We have bought 3 big citronella plants and they are sitting on the deck. But the flies don’t seem to mind them haha.

Aha, we used to have oranges made like that as Christmas ornaments, but then the orange had many more cloves.

Like #6, citrus scented things often do a good job! Alternatively, some herbs (mint I know for sure) also can do it!
