How to remove stearine or wax stains from textiles

Image 1. Click to open in original size.

If you get wax or stearine on clothes or other textiles, let it cool down before you do anything else. Otherwise you risk smearing the stain to other areas. If you are in a hurry, you can cool the stain by blowing on it.

To remove the wax stain, use an iron that you set to the lowest temperature. If it is a steam iron, make sure to deactivate the steam. Cover the stain with a piece of cloth or a paper towel. Then gently iron on top of the cloth or paper so the stearine melts. It will then be absorbed into the cloth. If there is a lot of stearine you may have to change cloth or paper a few times.

If you don’t have an iron you may be able to use a blow dryer instead.
