How to make feather sticks for lighting fire

Any time you make a fire, it's way easyer to make it with feather sticks.

Heres a video of Ray Mears making feather sticks

I see he uses a ferry rod for lighting it. That's something I would recommend most people to have for emergencies. The sparks they produce are several thousand degrees hot. It makes it easier to light fire in most conditions. Put a ferro rod in the car, in your backpack and wherever you may end up needing to start a fire.

#1 You can put swedsih fire steel (other name for it) on your knife holder too, then you have both fire steel and knife in hand when you make fire.

And a tip so that you always carry tinder, carry tampons (yes guys too) if you fluff it up it's perfect tinder and its in a water proof lining too

Or always carry potato chips. They too can be used as tinder. :-)

#5 Yeah, I'm with Tealover on this one. A tampoon is also easier to pack that potato chips because they will just crumble and spread everywhere unless you have them in a bag Laughing
